Mixing: Fluids + Powders, Low-Wettability Powders
Mixing fluids with liquid-soluble powders is an easy process carried out by mixers adjusted to the required yield and the type of process. The agitators are adjusted to varied volumes, temperatures and the end-user’s individual needs.
In the case of low-wettability powders and insoluble powders, Kates deploys several solutions, those most often used being:
- feeding the powder under the surface of the liquid, e.g. in homogenizing mixers: the process utilizes the subatmospheric pressure inside the main tank; the homogenizing turbine pumps the liquid through the external cycle in a closed loop, the powder is fed through a special stub pipe and due to the vacuum inside the tank it is caught by the liquid in the external cycle and as a result it does not form lumps and is uniformly distributed throughout the entire volume of the tank; the efficiency of the process may be controlled by changing the degree of vacuum, the velocity of the liquid in the external cycle and the speed of feeding the powder; furthermore, Kates provides a fully automatic system of controlling and monitoring the process.
- utilizing high-speed agitators revolving turbulently inside the mixer; the method is used for simpler and easier mixtures insensitive to aeration; similarly to the previous option, Kates may provide a system with full control of the process and dosing.
