Cosmetic Industry
For many years, KATES Polska Sp. z o.o. has manufactured equipment for renown companies in both domestic and international pharmaceutical markets. In this sphere, we guarantee quality and workmanship of the highest standard, as well as warranty and post-warranty maintenance services and assembly on the customer’s premises.
For the devices of our manufacture we carry out full qualification and acceptance tests, i.e. FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, DQ.
To ensure the highest possible level of safety in operating our products, every single item undergoes a thorough analysis of potential risks, whereby the device is classified into an appropriate risk category specified the a relevant European directive. With respect to the risks involved, the equipment of our manufacture falls under the following directives:
- Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)
- Machinery Directive
- Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive
- ATEX Directive
In proof of compliance with the pertinent directive(s), we issue a Declaration of Conformity with the directive in question and supply the device with the CE mark. The equipment we offer is manufactured according to the specifications and requirements set by the customer, the list of our products including:
The inner shell of the mixer is made of 1.4404 (AISI 316L) grade steel and its remaining elements which do not come in contact with the substance processed are made of 1.4301 (AISI 304) steel. The hinged upper lid supported by gas springs increases the accessibility of the chamber for washing purposes. With the agitator drive unit mounted on it, the lid is secured against being fully opened with a pulled-back pin. The frame of the tank rests on steerable antistatic wheels and is compatible with fork lifts. The agitator is rotated by a variable-speed transmission unit.
- loose material mixers, e.g. a ribbon mixer
- mixing stations with replaceable tanks
- works transport tanks
The inner shell of the mixer is made of 1.4404 (AISI 316L) grade steel and its remaining elements which do not come in contact with the substance processed are made of 1.4301 (AISI 304) steel. The fully dismountable lid increases the accessibility of the chamber for washing purposes. The frame of the tank rests on steerable antistatic wheels and is compatible with fork lifts.
- mobile and stationary CIP systems
- storage tanks
- demineralized water tanks
- mobile and stationary melters
The section view shows the structure of the so-called “cup-inside-cup” mobile melter. The inner shell of the melter is made of 1.4404 (AISI 316L) grade steel and is embedded in a heating jacket which is a single-chamber space. That, in turn, is surrounded by an isolation mantle, the space between the heating jacket and the isolation mantle being filled in with mineral wool. The elements which do not come in contact with the substance processed are made of 1.4301 (AISI 304) steel. The fully dismountable lid increases the accessibility of the chamber when washing the tank or feeding the fatty phase. The frame of the tank rests on steerable wheels. The heater embedded in the heating jacket is controlled automatically by a system receiving signals from a sensor measuring the temperature of the substance processed.

- fermenters and biofermenters
- powder suction systems:
- an injector-like system, in which powder is sucked in out of a charging hopper as a result of subatmospheric pressure produced by an orifice inside the suction conduit of the installation:
- a vacuum system, in which powders are sucked in by vacuum produced inside the tank (in this case, powders may be sucked into the tank through a flexible hose directly from a container with a weighed out portion of powder):
- shell and tube heat exchangers
- filters: A mobile filter with a slotted filter cartridge.
The filter is made in an aseptic version with membrane shut-off valves. The filter cartridge itself consists of a slotted screen of 1.4404 (AISI 316L) grade. The material is supplied with a pneumatic membrane pump. At the inlet and outlet of the filter cartridge, there are manometers with membrane separators which signal the filter contamination degree.
- Process lines, e.g.:
- a personal hygienic product moistening line
- a cream mixing line

The catwalk made of 1.4301 (AISI 304) grade steel provides access to the servicing hatches for process inspection purposes or for manual dosing of ingredients stored on platforms. The platforms are secured by hinged gates. The deck of the catwalk and the stairs are made of high quality anti-slip chequer plate.
Both the inner shell of the mixers and the piping of the line are made of 1.4404 (AISI 316) grade steel. The surfaces which do not come in contact with the substance processed. The circulation of the substance processed or washing agents is induced by two pumps: an impeller pump and a lobar pump. The technological processes may be controlled through a system of pneumatic valves operated at the control panel. The mixers are equipped with temperature and level sensors, whereby continuity of measurement is guaranteed.
The tanks are protected against excessive buildup or drop of pressure by safety valves. The tanks are vented through breather filters with tube sight glasses for cartridge contamination inspection. At the outlet pipes connected with atmosphere, there are flame arresters isolating the tanks from potential ignition sources.
